duisport Group reports significant increases in earnings amid slight container growth

The duisport Group has announced that in the 2021 financial year the Port of Duisburg’s container turnover rose slightly by 2% to around 4.3 million TEU.

At the same time, the ownership and management company of the German port reported that its sales in 2021 were increased by 18.9%, compared to the previous year’s figure, reaching €346.8 million (US$365.9 million). As a result of the increased sales, duisport Group’s Earnings Before Interest, Taxes, Depreciation, and Amortization (EBITDA) improved to €54.6 million (US$57.6 million), and the annual net profit after tax grew by 33.1% to €18.9 million (US$19.9 million).

Markus Bangen, duisport Group CEO, commented, “The positive results in 2021 are the outcome of trusting teamwork, open dialog, and above all the outstanding commitment of all our colleagues at duisport. The entire Executive Board would like to thank them once again. After all, without their tireless efforts – whether it’s in the office, at home, at the terminals, or in our halls – we would not have been able to maintain our operations.”

Meanwhile, during the last year, the Port of Duisburg handled a total of 58.2 million tons of goods by ship, rail and truck.
