Duvenbeck, a logistics company established in 1932 and headquartered in Bocholt, North Rhine-Westphalia, is extending its network to include the Benelux region.
The recent agreement to acquire Schotpoort Logistics, a Dutch transport and logistics firm based in Eerbeek near Arnhem, was signed on 19 February 2024. However, the finalization of the deal is contingent upon approval by cartel authorities.
“By acquiring Schotpoort Logistics, we’re gaining access to a region that plays a central role in the implementation of our growth strategy. Thanks to its proximity to the seaports of Amsterdam, Rotterdam and Antwerp, Schotpoort Logistics will enable us to expand our import and export logistics activities and tap into additional customer sectors in the Far East and Europe,” stated Hakan Bicil, CEO of Duvenbeck.
Specializing in transport, warehousing, contract, and project logistics, Schotpoort Logistics serves a diverse clientele, including manufacturers in the paper and packaging industry, consumer goods firms, and solar sector companies.
The company manages over 70,000 square meters of warehouse space, with facilities spanning from Hoogezand near Groningen in the north to Best near Eindhoven in the south. Additionally, Schotpoort Logistics operates a fleet of 120 units, including subcontractors, and maintains a branch in Lithuania. Following the acquisition, all 180 employees of Schotpoort Logistics will become part of Duvenbeck.
With a presence in 11 countries through 40 locations, Duvenbeck offers full-service logistics solutions encompassing conception, transportation, and contract logistics. The company’s capabilities include cross-docking, sequencing, and trailer yards. Duvenbeck boasts a fleet of 1600 trucks primarily serving automotive, industrial, and agricultural vehicle industry clients.
This strategic expansion aligns with Duvenbeck’s internationalization strategy, developed in collaboration with its majority owner, Waterland. By integrating Schotpoort Logistics, Duvenbeck aims to enhance its core competencies and broaden its customer base, furthering its commitment to growth and innovation.
Schotpoort was founded in 1934 and was previously owned by the family with the same name. The company’s managing director, Fred Schotpoort, added, “By coming under the Duvenbeck umbrella, we can continue developing our logistics solutions and at the same time benefit from the strong market position of a logistics company that is active throughout Europe. An additional advantage for both companies is that our service portfolio in the Netherlands fits perfectly into Duvenbeck’s growth strategy.”
