ECO representatives visit Amirabad Port

The representatives of ten member countries of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) visited the major Iranian port of Amirabad in the northern Mazandaran province on Tuesday (Nov 6).

Envoys and representatives of the member countries, including Turkey, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Kirgizstan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Tajikistan and Iran are attending the 234th ECO Council of Permanent Representatives, which is being held in Sari, Mazandaran province.

During their stay, the guests visited Amirabad Port and were briefed about the potentials and capacities of the Iranian hub and its role as a transit corridor in the region.

Amirabad is currently the largest port facility on the Caspian shore and the third largest port in Iran. The 1,000-hectare port currently has nine berths, which can accommodate Ro-Ro vessels, trains and trucks.
