The environmental data provider ecoinvent and the Maersk Mc-Kinney Moller Center for Zero Carbon Shipping signed a Knowledge Partnership Agreement today, 17 January.
With the agreement, ecoinvent and the Center become formal partners, committing to a long-term strategic partnership for the marine industry’s decarbonisation.
The new partner of the Maersk Mc-Kinney Moller Center is a globally active not-for-profit organisation, founded by the Swiss research institutions ETHZ, EPFL, PSI, Empa, and Agroscope, which aims to encourage high-quality science-based environmental evaluations.
“This partnership is a major contribution to the mission we are on. ecoinvent is a world leader in the provision of environmental data, and our collaboration will accelerate the co-creation of data needed to support a sustainable energy transition in the shipping industry,” commented Bo Cerup-Simonsen, CEO of the Center.
The activities of ecoinvent include publishing and maintaining the ecoinvent Database, which currently contains over 18.500 reliable life cycle inventory datasets covering a diverse range of sectors on a global level, while the association works with policymakers, private enterprises, Non-Governmental Organisations, and the academic community globally.
