European Gateaway Services increases frequency of intra-Europe rail service

European Gateway Services (EGS) is increasing the frequency of the rail connection between Rotterdam in the Netherlands and Nuremberg in Germany.

More specifically, from Friday 17 February, a train will depart from Rotterdam to Nuremberg and vice versa, four times a week.

Thus, all container terminals on the Maasvlakte will be directly connected to the TriCon Container-Terminal Nürnberg several times a week. There is also a direct connection to Regensburg twice a week.

The extra train arrives in Nuremberg on Friday evening and departs for Rotterdam again on Friday night.

As a result, import cargo can be delivered directly to Bayern on Monday and export cargo is available in Rotterdam on Sunday/Monday, according to European Gateway Services, which noted that the trains are going to have a capacity of more than 100 TEUs and through the use of electric Vectron locomotives, also contribute to more sustainable transportation.

Moreover, EGS offers last-mile transport in Bayern and Rotterdam as well as port transfers within Rotterdam and to/from Antwerp. In addition to the connections with Nuremberg and Regensburg in Bayern, also Munich is directly connected to the port of Rotterdam by rail, said European Gateway Services.
