European lines apply new rates in Europe and Med

Major ocean carriers have announced new charges in Europe and the Mediterranean from mid-December and the beginning of the new year.

French shipping line CMA CGM will implement new freight of all kinds (FAK) rates from North Europe and Mediterranean to Kenya, Tanzania, Australia, New Zealand and Indian Subcontinent, effective from 1 January.

North Europe to Kenya and Tanzania

  • US$1,425 per 20’ST
  • US$1,575 per 40’ST

In the meantime, Hapag-Lloyd will apply a peak season surcharge (PSS) of US$1,000/TEU from the Far East to North Europe and the Mediterranean, effective from 15 December. The new surcharge will apply to dry and reefer containers, as well as special equipment.

On the same date, the German company will introduce the following ocean tariff rates for all cargoes in 20’ and 40’ on the westbound trade from East Asia, including Japan to North Europe and the Mediterranean.

FAK rates subject to Marine Fuel Recovery (MFR)

Additionally, MSC has unveiled the following new freight rates from the ports of Antwerp, La Spezia and Genova, effective from 1 January 2021 until further notice but not beyond 30 January 2021.
