Evergreen clarifies Ever Given claim

The owners of the Ever Given, Shoei Kisen Kaisha, which was grounded in the Suez Canal for six days blocking traffic have filed a claim of limitation at the UK’s High Court of Justice.

[s2If is_user_logged_in()]Evergreen said the claim is “in view of the liabilities and compensation that may occur due to the grounding incident.”

The carrier added that, “In the appendix of the filing, the owner listed Evergreen Marine Corp. and several other potential claimants as ‘Defendants’ and notified them accordingly. The incorrect interpretation of the word “Defendant” has led to misleading media reports. Lawyers acting for Evergreen are collecting all relevant information and will handle any necessary follow-up in this matter.”
