Examination of impact of container terminal in Port of Newcastle

The committee, announced on Tuesday (Nov. 20), will inquire into the impact of the Port of Newcastle sale arrangements on public works expenditure across NSW.

It will specifically look at the extent to which limitations on container port operations put in place following the government’s decision to lease the Port of Newcastle have contributed to increased transport and freight infrastructure in the state.

It will also look at the nature and status of the port commitment deeds and the extent to which they contain limitations on container port movements and the terms of such commitments.
