Fire in container-train wagons

In Thursday (Nov. 8) night a major fire broke out in two wagons of a goods train on the Mumbai-Gujarat route. As a result, the rail operations were disrupted for nearly 10 hours. Train services were restored Friday morning.

The incident on the 45-container-long train, headed toward JNPT, occured between Dahanu Road and Vangaon around 10:30 pm on the Mumbai-bound line. However, the Gujarat-bound line was also closed for traffic, as an extra safety measure.

The last one was opened at 1:30 am and the Mumbai-bound line was resumed at 8:50 am.
