The Russian railway companies FESCO Transportation Group and JSC Russian Railways, in cooperation with the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism of Japan have launched the first rail service for reefer containers from Japan to Europe via the Trans-Siberian Railway.
Refrigerated boxes consist of food, beverages and pharmaceutical products that require special storage, transportation and temperature conditions and are carried out by Dalreftrans, the largest operator of refrigerated container transportation in the Far East and part of FESCO.
Starting from January, cargoes from Japanese cities Toyama and Kobe are delivered by the FESCO marine service to the Russian Commercial Port Vladivostok (CPV), from where they are dispatched to Saint Petersburg, as part of the regular FESCO train. From there, the containers are delivered by sea to Belgium, Germany and the Netherlands.
