Folk Maritime introduces new feeder service between Sudan and Saudi Arabia

Folk Maritime will initiate a new direct feeder service in April, linking Port Sudan with the port of Jeddah in Saudi Arabia.

This move aims to enhance customer access to Port Sudan’s feeder port and bolster transshipment capacity across the Red Sea, according to the newly launched company.

“As the gateway for 90% of Sudan’s international trade, Port Sudan will benefit from these direct shuttle services from Saudi Arabia’s first independent feeder and short sea shipping provider,” said Folk Maritime, which has recently appointed Chief Operating Officer.

The new fortnightly shuttle will offer a box capacity of 700 TEUs and is designed to enable direct transshipment options and to extend customer reach to Port Sudan’s feeder port, a zone typically inaccessible to larger commercial vessels.

“This new direct feeder service is set to significantly increase Port Sudan’s link to the global trade network, bridging vital maritime hubs across the Red Sea. We’re committed to fueling regional growth by providing efficient, direct maritime connections that cater to the dynamic needs of our customers,” commented Poul Hestbaek CEO of Folk Maritime.
