Former B&M supply chain head joins Peel Ports

Peel Ports Group has hired the former head of supply chain for national retailer B&M to boost its connections with importers. Jerome Wildsmith has over 30 years of logistics expertise, including time with top retailers Matalan, Mamas & Papas, and Regatta.

His new responsibility will be to boost container volumes and use the port’s closeness to important distribution centres north of Birmingham, based at the Port of Liverpool’s container division.

Jerome began his new position in September and has a considerable understanding of port-centric solutions and container management in retail, as well as excellent ties with shipping industry experts.

“Jerome’s huge success at improving supply chain efficiency from the retail side is the expertise that we can now offer our customers and will go a long way towards streamlining supply chain processes. In the current climate, cargo owners are seeing their margins being squeezed ever tighter while being expected to simultaneously deliver greener logistics solutions. We will work with them to achieve these goals by maximising the benefits of more effective use of sea transport, for closer-to-end destination logistics,” stated David Huck, chief operating officer at Peel Ports Group.
