Kalmar has agreed to supply two Kalmar electric reachstackers to French multimodal terminal operator BTM.
The machines will be used at Terminal Ouest Provence (TOP), a new multimodal terminal set to open in the second quarter of 2024. The new equipment is expected to arrive at the French terminal in the first quarter of 2024.
TOP is a new intermodal terminal being built to the north of Marseille by the Open Modal Group. The terminal will be operated by BTM and will accommodate trains operated by T3M and drawn by Combirail, both companies of Open Modal Group.
Open Modal intends to integrate and decarbonise its intermodal transportation chain, which includes road transport and has chosen Kalmar electric reachstackers to help them achieve this goal. BTM already has six diesel-powered Kalmar reachstackers in its fleet.
“When selecting new equipment for the fleet at TOP, reliability was high on our agenda alongside zero emissions, and it is for these reasons that we have chosen to partner with Kalmar,” stated Christophe Lefel, general manager of BTM.
The Kalmar electric reachstacker, with lifting capacities of up to 45 tonnes, increases cargo-handling operations’ eco-efficiency while allowing clients to retain the greatest standards of productivity and safety. The reachstacker comes with a variety of modular battery and charging choices.
