GAC Malaysia has entered into a Joint Venture (JV) with Syarikat Uminaca Sdn Bhd, a provider of manpower and stevedoring services in Malaysia.
This strategic collaboration aims to enhance logistics capabilities in the eastern region of the country and provide support for development initiatives in the Malaysian states of Sarawak and Sabah.
The collaborative partnership aims to enhance the range of comprehensive project logistics solutions offered in East Malaysia, with a particular focus on the growing energy sector in the region.
“GAC strategically ties-up with vibrant and dynamic partners to bolster our services in key markets around the world. Our collaboration with Uminaca will deliver exceptional value to our clients in East Malaysia,” stated Herman Jorgensen, GAC Malaysia’s managing director.
The agreement encompasses assisting with diverse infrastructure projects in Sarawak, such as the Lang Lebah offshore gas field, various Petros projects, and the Sarawak Metro Autonomous Rail Transit (ART) project. Additionally, it involves the development of oil and gas facilities at the Sipitang Oil and Gas Industrial Park (SOGIP) in Sabah.

GAC and Uminaca jointly provide advanced ship management, integrated logistics, ship agency, marine, and technical services to clients in the region. Leveraging Uminaca’s deep local insights alongside GAC’s global presence and specialized knowledge, the JV is poised to deliver enhanced competitiveness and cost-efficiency in shipping, logistics, and marine services within the vital East Malaysia market.
Moreover, this joint venture marks the latest progression in GAC’s expanding footprint in Malaysia and the broader region. Last August, the company inaugurated its 14th official office in Kota Kinabalu, aimed at delivering shipping and logistics solutions to the marine and energy industries. Furthermore, GAC intends to establish additional offices in Kuantan and Yan, aligning with Malaysia’s ongoing development within the energy sector and its increasing significance in global trade.
