Gebrüder Weiss opens new facility in Albania

Gebrüder Weiss inaugurated a new facility in Tirana, Albania, on 6 February reducing the geographical gap between Montenegro and North Macedonia and allowing the worldwide transport and logistics firm to strengthen its transport links in South-Eastern Europe.

Gebrüder Weiss has offices in Albania, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Montenegro, North Macedonia, and Serbia.

Following the Covid-19 pandemic, Albania’s economic prognosis has improved with a growth of roughly 3% projected in 2023. Imports such as food, equipment, chemicals, and textiles account for the vast majority of the country’s trade balance. Clothing and food, iron and steel, and other raw and construction materials are among the exports to the European Union, where a free trade agreement has been in existence since 2009.

“The first step will involve us expanding the existing groupage freight line between North Macedonia (Skopje) and Albania in both directions. There are also plans to establish new connections to Albania’s main trading partner, Italy,” stated Dorina Islami, country manager of Albania at Gebrüder Weiss.
