Gebrüder Weiss provides e-commerce solutions for China’s iconic Baijiu brands

Global logistics firm Gebrüder Weiss is providing a comprehensive suite of e-commerce services to some of China’s leading Baijiu brands.

Baijiu, a grain-based spirit widely regarded as China’s national drink, holds the status of a luxury product and a symbol of prestige.

In the Far East, Gebrüder Weiss is catering to this market by offering tailored e-commerce solutions for some of China’s most esteemed baijiu brands. This spirit, typically made from fermented sorghum or other grains, is one of the world’s most popular alcoholic beverages. In China, premium baijiu brands are considered luxury items and symbols of status.

“We have set up a warehouse in the western Chinese city of Chengdu, complete with its very own team, and developed a logistics solution designed to meet the specific requirements for high-end spirit brands,” explained Yongquan Chen, General Manager of Gebrüder Weiss in China. Gebrüder Weiss operates 19 branches in the Greater China region.

According to a statement, Gebrüder Weiss’s services encompass storage, packing, nationwide delivery within China, insurance options, shipment tracking, and dedicated customer service. When a customer places an order on one of China’s many online retail platforms, the order details are immediately relayed to Gebrüder Weiss for fulfilment.

In addition, the goods are then picked from the warehouse, inspected, assigned a code, and packed before being shipped to the customer by truck or air freight. Many of these renowned spirits are produced near Chengdu, a major city in Sichuan Province, which is both the most modern and economically vital city in Western China and a key transportation hub. Gebrüder Weiss has operated a branch in Chengdu since 2006.

The company provides services to well-known baijiu brands such as Quanxing, Fenggu, Jiangkouchun, Sichuan Liquor Group (Chidu), and Xiaojiaolou.

“Gebrüder Weiss’ services have improved our logistics and reduced the amount of damage to our products during transport,” stated Wang Xikai, Head of E-Commerce at Quanxing, “This has enhanced our customers’ shopping experience and is helping us to hold our own amid the tough competition in e-commerce.”

Premium spirit brands face significant challenges in e-commerce and warehousing, requiring flexibility, quick response times, and dependable customer service to adapt to evolving consumer trends and behaviours.

“If the spirits themselves and the packaging are not professionally managed and tracked, this allows fake products to break into the market, which damages the brand’s reputation and undermines customer confidence,” explained Yongquan Chen.

The warehousing system efficiently assigns parcels or gift boxes of the appropriate size to each order, while the customer service team swiftly and professionally handles after-sales issues, including overdue orders or address changes.
