According to the latest update, two seafarers from the 13 crew members that were rescued from the general cargo ship Jin Tian that sank on 25 January, are reported dead.
Overall, 13 crew members were rescued from the vessel, which sank in the East China sea, while the other nine seafarers remain missing at the time of writing.
The cargo ship with a carrying capacity of 9,784 tonnes DWT sank some 75 nautical miles south of Jeju island, South Korea, on the morning of 25 January around 02:25 (Seoul time), while it was sailing from Vanimo in Papua New Guinea to Incheon in South Korea.
The Hong Kong-flagged ship seems to have been caught in rough weather, raging over Asian waters during the last several days, while Reuters reported that five of the crew members who were rescued were Chinese but there was no further information on their condition.
