GEODIS appoints new chief strategy officer

GEODIS, a global transportation and logistics company, announced the appointment of Xavier Avrard as chief strategy officer. He will join the Group’s Management Board, which will be chaired by Marie-Christine Lombard, chief executive officer of GEODIS.

Xavier Avrard joined GEODIS as Group Controller in 2014. He was named managing director for Projects Logistics, initially for Africa and later for the WEMEA area, after helping to the purchase of OHL in 2015.

He was appointed senior vice president of the Odyssey program in 2019, with responsibility for initiating and executing the Group’s digital transformation initiative.

Xavier Avrard took over the strategic development of the Europe area in January 2023, namely the integration of trans-o-flex, a firm recently purchased by GEODIS.

He has led the new Group Strategy Department since 1 July. This department will oversee corporate strategy, mergers and acquisitions, post-merger integration, and the Group’s strategic investments and advancements.

Before joining GEODIS, Xavier Avrard worked as a financial controller and chief financial officer for a number of large worldwide corporations.

Avrard has a Master of Economics from the University of Bordeaux and a postgraduate diploma in management control and audit from the IAE (Institut d’Administration des Entreprises) in Bordeaux.
