Geodis extends delivery services in Canada

The transport and logistics services provider Geodis has expanded its direct-to-customer intercontinental delivery service ‘Geodis MyParcel’ in Canada, in an effort to allow brands to continue growing their e-commerce business on a global scale.

First launched in 2020, Geodis MyParcel offers a small parcel delivery service from the US to 27 European countries, with the intention to expand into new geographical areas globally, such as the Canadian market.

“With the expansion of Geodis MyParcel into Canada, we are enabling our customers to further strengthen their international presence and growth potential by accessing a new, rapidly growing market,” Manoj Pankaj, vice president of Cross-border e-commerce | B2C Shipping at Geodis in America.

Lately, cross-border e-commerce activity has grown remarkably as a byproduct of the Covid-19 pandemic, with consumers buying behaviours turning to the online purchase of goods.

In 2020, sales reached US$4.3 trillion and they are expected to jump to US$5.4 trillion in 2022, according to Statista, a company specialising in market and consumer data.

In addition, the market research company eMarketer has reported that the Canadian retail e-commerce market is the second fastest-growing market globally, while it grew by 75% in 2020. Canadian e-Commerce sales are also predicted to reach US$500 billion in 2022.

The International Post Corporation reports that 25% of global customers cited a long delivery time as the top issue related to cross-border e-commerce.

Through Geodis MyParcel, the company aims to offer a reliable delivery at an estimated time within 4-6 days to meet customer demand, while it also features a tax and customs duty calculator displayed at the shopping cart level to provide complete price transparency to customers before the transaction is completed.

“Ultimately, Geodis MyParcel is designed to offer the right balance between speed and price at a transparent, total landed cost,” commented Pankaj.
