A group of top Latvian transport and logistics businesses, led by Uldis Reimenis, deputy undersecretary of the Latvian Ministry of Transport, visited Hamburg and Lübeck in Germany from 26 to 28 April.
The German-Latvian Port Forum in Lübeck on 27 April was a highlight of the delegation’s visit, organised jointly by Port of Hamburg Marketing and the Port of Lübeck, among others.
The three-day agenda included a meeting at Hamburg City Hall on 28 April. A Memorandum of Understanding was signed by Uldis Reimanis, Axel Mattern, CEO of HHM – Port of Hamburg Marketing, and Jnis Kasalis, chairman of the Federation of Latvian Cargo-Handling Companies.
All parties desired to strengthen and expand cooperation between Latvia’s ports of Riga, Ventspils, and Liepaja and those in the Hamburg Metropolitan Region.
Visitors also renewed the already agreed-upon collaboration for 2019 between the Latvian ports of Riga, Ventspils, and Liepaja and the northern German ports of Hamburg and Lübeck.
“Latvian and German companies and ports benefit equally from this,” stated Marina Basso Michael, regional director of Europe of HHM – Port of Hamburg Marketing.
