DAKOSY, a Hamburg-based software firm, has created ImpalaID, a new universal authentication app for logistics.
The technology is open to all businesses and institutions and provides users with barrier-free and secure legitimisation through a secure QR code.
The trial phase is presently underway in the Port of Hamburg in Germany. The first participants are Hamburger Container Service (HCS), an empty container depot, and the Veterinary Office Border Control.
“The new ImpalaID app fills a significant gap for secure and uniform authentication at an assortment of logistic hubs, for example at barriers or gate systems in the port area,” stated Nicolai Port, head of the intermodal transport solutions department at DAKOSY.
According to a statement, the first two pilot user groups, the empty container depot Hamburger Container Service (HCS) and the Veterinary Office Border Control, utilise the app to fulfill the same aims.
Both want all drivers to be registered and announced ahead of time. This was previously not feasible. Not every driver is eligible to utilise the physical legitimisation certificate (known as a “Truckerkarte”) that is currently in use in the major German port.
HCS is actively introducing digital authentication as a substitute to Truckerkarte using ImpalaID. In the future, drivers will be able to utilise ImpalaID to register on the Truckgate web platform, and then scan the QR code at the HCS depot to validate their empty container pickups or deliveries.
