Ghost ship found at Bay of Bengal

A Qatar-flagged ship, namely Al Qubtan 1, which was last seen in the Persian Gulf in October 2021, is now found floating in the Bay of Bengal in Southern Bangladesh’s Bhola district.

On Thursday local residents saw the vessel floating near Char Nizam, a small island, and a group of people was looting valuables from the vessel.

There was no crew in the vessel and local residents saw an excavator,  a stone crushing machine, and stone in the vessel alongside other valuables.

Law enforcers are failing to take control of the floating vessel due to the rough sea.

However, a video posted by a local man showed that a number of small boats and trawlers were tied beside the ghost ship and people were taking away the valuables.

More small boats are also rushing towards the ship to join the group.
