Global Ports enhances VSC container handling equipment with new reachstackers

Russian port and terminal operator Global Ports has commissioned two new heavy-duty reachstackers at its Far East terminal, Vostochnaya Stevedoring Company (VSC), located in the port of Vostochny in Primorsky Krai.

Reachstackers from Chinese port equipment manufacturer ZPMC have a lifting capacity of 45 tons and are highly maneuverable. Additionally, they are designed for loading, unloading and storing containers in the areas of yard and railway fronts and are expected to help increase the speed and efficiency of the fronts’ handling.

Another important feature of the new machines, noted Global Ports, is the ability to handle rail platforms over a single rail track.

The new machines complement 13 reachstackers already operating at the terminal.

In April 2023, VSC commissioned two new mobile cranes with a lifting capacity of 144 tons. In 2023-2024, nine RTG and RMG-type container-wheeled and rail-mounted cranes are expected to be delivered. Furthermore, Global Ports relocated more than 25 units of port equipment from North-West Terminals to VSC during the last year.

Totally, Global Ports has increased the terminal’s equipment fleet by 20% over the year.
