Global Ports expands VSC’s fleet with three new straddle carriers

Global Ports, one of the major operators of container terminals in Russia and a part of the Delo Group, has acquired three new straddle carriers for its Far Eastern terminal, Vostochnaya Stevedoring Company (VSC), located in Primorsky Krai.

This move is a part of Global Ports’ initiative to modernise its facilities and enhance the throughput capacity of the Vostochny port.

Manufactured by ZPMC, a leading global manufacturer of port equipment, these straddle carriers have a load capacity of 40 tonnes and will facilitate container transportation and stacking within the port area.

The addition of the new equipment brings the total count of straddle carriers at VSC to 27. In the next months, the terminal’s fleet will be further enhanced with eight tractor-trailer systems and two front loaders, featuring lifting capacities of 16 and 32 tonnes respectively.

As part of its capacity moderniaation programme, VSC commissioned two Liebherr LHM 550 extra-heavy mobile harbour cranes, six RMGs, three RTGs, and four reachstackers in 2023. Additionally, between 2022 and 2023, Global Ports transferred over 25 units of port equipment from North-West terminals to VSC.
