Global Ports served the100th intermodal Maersk AE19 service

The terminals Vostochnaya Stevedoring Company (VSC) and First Container Terminal (FCT) of Global Ports Group which provides transit cargo handling in the Baltic and the Far East, served the 100th transcontinental intermodal service Maersk AE19, organized in partnership with the transportation company Modul.

Loaded with 78 containers of 125TEU, the train began from the VSC terminal and arrived in the Port of Vostochny to FCT in the Big Port of St. Petersburg on 6 July 2021.

The containers were first delivered by sea from China, Korea, and Taiwan to VSC, where the transition happened and they will be loaded onto a Maersk vessel at FCT, in order to be delivered to Poland and to the United Kingdom.

Moreover, Albert Likholet, CEO of Global Ports management LLC, pointed out that “during the first half of 2021, VSC and FCT handled 20,400TEU of transit cargo between Europe and Asia, six times more than in the same period in 2020. The AE19 intermodal service was first launched in July 2019, with a total transit delivery time of 25-30 days, while the transit time by rail between Russian ports is about 11 days.

CEO of Modul, Alexander Altshuller said, the frequency of departures of the AE19 trains has been increased to twice a week since November 2020, even as the load rate has remained at 100%.
