Halifax Port wins AAPA’s Award

The Halifax Port Authority is being recognized by the American Association of Port Authorities (AAPA) with an Information Technology Award for Port Operations & Management Systems for the Port Operations Centre on the Port of Halifax website (www.portofhalifax.ca).

The Port Operations Centre was launched in June 2017 to provide a convenient, one-stop digital location where local and global port community can find current operational and reporting information. It has become the HPA’s central tool for communicating with the port community.

Weekly Dwell by Terminal

The Halifax Port Authority – in partnership with terminal operators Halterm Limited, Ceres Halifax Inc., and CN Rail – have jointly evolved our management process for greater supply chain velocity and predictability. Weekly Dwell by Terminal is a Key Performance Indicator (KPI) posted to the Port Operations Centre showing the percentage of containers loaded out to 90% within 72 hours, and to 100% within 96 hours. We also present the traditional weekly average container days-on-dock (DOD).

Consolidated weekly dwell for Week 35

•    KPI < 72hrs 90% = 77%
•    KPI < 96hrs 100% = 90%
•    Average weekly Days on Dock (DOD) = 2 days
