Hapag-Lloyd has announced void sailing positions of its Indian Ocean Service (IOS) due to Covid-19 related measures in several countries, which are resulting in operational challenges and unusually decreasing demand.
The German company intends to minimise the effect on its customers’ supply chain by providing alternative routings for their cargo.
In the void sailing weeks, Hapag-Lloyd offers the respective alternative routings:
“The above is subject to change,” Hapag-Lloyd said in its announcement.
The Hamburg-based carrier has also announced void sailing positions of its India Express Service (IEX) due to Covid-19 continuing situation.
Following Eastbound IEX sailings will slide with fortnightly void positions:
The following service options can be offered as an alternative:
- For cargo destined to or via Jeddah (SAJED):
– North European main ports: covered by IOS and FE5 services
– West Mediterranean ports & Egypt ( to & via): covered by IMX and MD1 services
– Turkey ports: covered by MD3 service - For cargo destined to India East Coast, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh we recommend to use subsequent IEX sailings.
In addition, the coronavirus has forced Hapag-Lloyd to implement blank sailing positions of Gulf East Med Service (GEM). The planned void sailings are listed below and subject to change according to demand:
