Hapag-Lloyd announces peak season surcharges for shipments to North America

Hamburg-based box line Hapag-Lloyd has announced new peak season surcharges for shipments destined for North American ports.

The German company will apply a new peak season surcharge from Indian Subcontinent & Middle East to North America for cargo transported in 20’ and 40’ dry, reefer and special containers, including high cube equipment.

The surcharge will apply to all containers gated in full from 17 June and will be valid until further notice.

Amounts will be applicable as follows:

  • Indian Subcontinent & Middle East to North America West Coast:

US$1000 per Container

  • India, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka to United States East Coast & Gulf Coast:

US$500 per Container

Indian Subcontintent & Middle East: India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, UAE, Qatar, Bahrain, Oman, Kuwait, Iraq, Saudi Arabia, Jordan

Additionally, a peak season surcharge, implemented by Hapag-Lloyd, will come into effect from East Asia to North America. This surcharge is applicable for all containers gated in from 1 June until 14 June.

  • 20′ Container: US$480
  • 40′ Container: US$600
  • 45′ Container: US$600

For containers gated in from 15 June and until further notice, the PSS details will be the following:

  • 20′ Container: US$1,000
  • 40′ Container: US$2,000
  • 45′ Container: US$2,000

East Asia: Japan, Republic of Korea, Taiwan (PRC), Hong Kong (PRC), China (PRC), Macau (PRC), Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia, Thailand, Myanmar, Malaysia, Singapore, Brunei, Indonesia and the Philippines.

North America: United States and Canada
