German ocean carrier Hapag-Lloyd has announced a new Peak Season Surcharge (PSS) from North Europe to the United States, Canada and Mexico.
The new surcharge will be effective from 2 March and will be valid until further notice. The PSS will apply to dry and reefer boxes, as well as high cube and special containers.
Hapag-Lloyd said the PSS will be US$600 per TEU and US$800 per FEU.
It is noteworthy that Hapag-Lloyd’s compatriot BOXIE24, a self-storage company based in Germany, has reported an increasing number of inquiries from customers who ask to ship cars from Berlin and other German cities to North and South America during 2024/2025. This could show an increasing trend for car, vehicle and container shipments between Europe and America in the coming months.
