Hapag-Lloyd appoints new senior managing director for North Europe

Joerg Sonne will take over as senior managing director of Region North Europe, following Martin Rolf, who will take over the position as managing director of human resources.

Sonne will begin his new role on 1 June 2023.

In addition, Sonne joined Hapag-Lloyd following the merger with UASC and directed Area Arabian Gulf effectively from 2017 to 2022. He has been Area Germany & Central Europe managing director for the last eight months and will be based at Hapag-Lloyd’s Hamburg headquarters.

“In recent years, Joerg has continuously demonstrated his leadership and commercial expertise within Hapag-Lloyd. In him, we have found an excellent leader to keep growing our business in Region North Europe,” stated Rolf Habben Jansen, CEO of Hapag-Lloyd.
