Hapag-Lloyd, Genset Provision Program

With effect from January 1, 2019 Hapag-Lloyd will implement a revised Genset Provision Program in the USA, applicable for Export shipments only.

As per company’s new Genset program, German shipping giant will provide a Genset for merchant haulage (MH) shipments which start or end at a port facility in the USA, subject to a tariff surcharge of $200 per container.

In case you do not require a Genset, you can inform your Hapag-Lloyd office at time of booking, as otherwise a Genset will automatically be provided and your shipment will be assessed the tariff surcharge.

There will be no change to the Genset provision for Import shipments (MH) which start or end at a port facility in the USA.

There is also no change to the Genset provision for import or export shipments of carrier haulage door delivery (CH) shipments or those transported by rail in the USA.
