Hapag-Lloyd has announced an increased Ocean Tariff rate for all cargoes for 20’ and 40’ General Purpose (incl. High Cube Container) as well as 20’ and 40’ Reefer Container on the Atlantic Eastbound trade from the US to North Europe and the Mediterranean.
Valid for shipments with tariffing date as of 9 April 2020 and until further notice, Hapag-Lloyd’s Ocean Tariff rate from the USA to North Europe and the Mediterranean will be:


In addition, Hapag-Lloyd will increase the rates with effect from 10 April 2020 for all cargo from Canada and United States to Latin America ports as follows:
- US$ 50 per 20′ container (dry and reefer)
- US$ 100 per 40′ container (dry and reefer)
The German shipping company will also implement the following General Rate Increase (GRI) in the Westbound trade for all commodities from North America to East Asia destinations as of 10 April 2020 (date of cargo receipt at origin).
This General Rate Increase will apply for all dry, reefer, non-operating reefer, tank, flat rack and open-top containers as follows:
- US$ 50 per all 20′ container types
- US$ 100 per all 40′ container types
East Asia is defined as being the countries/districts of Japan, Republic of Korea, China/Taiwan, China/Hong Kong, China (PRC), China/Macau, Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia, Thailand, Myanmar, Malaysia, Singapore, Brunei, Indonesia, The Philippines and Russian Pacific Coast Provinces.
