Hapag-Lloyd introduces low water surcharge from North Europe & Med to Canada

Hapag-Lloyd will implement a low water surcharge from North Europe and Mediterranean to Canada, effective from 14 October.

“The water levels in the St. Lawrence River have significantly dropped, and the Canadian Coast Guard has forecasted further reductions in the coming weeks,” noted the German carrier.

In response to these conditions, Hapag-Lloyd will introduce a surcharge of US$150 per TEU for all cargo transported via the port of Montreal.

The geographical scope of this update includes several regions in North Europe: The United Kingdom, Germany, Benelux, France, Hungary, Czech Republic, Austria, Switzerland, Denmark, Poland, the Baltic States, Ireland, Sweden, Norway, Finland, and Slovakia. The Mediterranean region includes Iberia, Italy, Fos, North Africa, the Levant, the Adriatic, Turkey, Greece, and the Black Sea.
