Hamburg-based ocean carrier Hapag-Lloyd announced that a Peak Season Surcharge (PSS) will be implemented for shipments from Egypt to Central America, the Caribbean, and the West Coast of South America.

This surcharge will be effective from 20 August 2024 and will remain in place until further notice. For regulated countries (Colombia, Ecuador, Puerto Rico, US Virgin Islands), the surcharge will begin on 4 September 2024.

Hapag-Lloyd’s peak season surcharge will be US$200 per 20′ container.
