Hapag-Lloyd pushes up charges to East Coast of South America

Hapag-Lloyd has announced rate increases to the East Coast of South America, which will take effect during July.

The German carrier will apply a general rate increase (GRI) of US$500 per container for all cargo and container types shipping from East Asia to the East Coast of South America. The rate increase will be effective from 26 July.

Additionally, Hapag-Lloyd has implemented another GRI from today (23 July) for all dry cargo shipping from Callao, Peru, and Guayaquil, Ecuador to the Port of San Antonio in Chile. This GRI will be US$200 per dry unit.
