The German shipping company, Hapag-Lloyd has announced new rates from Asia regions to several destinations across the world, which will take effect in the next month.
The Hamburg-based line will implement a peak season surcharge (PSS) of US$500/20′ and US$1,000/40′ for all dry, reefer non-operating reefer, tank, flat rack and open-top containers from North East Asia, which comprises Korea, China, China/Hong Kong, China/Macau and China/Taiwan, to New Zeland. The surcharge will be effective from 1 July.
On the same date, Hapag-Lloyd will increase its prices by US$450/container from the Indian Subcontinent, which includes Bangladesh, India, Sri Lanka, and Maldives, to East Coast South America, which comprises Argentina, Uruguay and Brazil, for all container types.
In addition, the Hamburg-based container carrier will push up its rates from the Indian Subcontinent and Arabian Gulf to West and South Africa on 1 July.

- West Africa: Angola, Benin, Côte d’Ivoire, Ghana, Mali, Mauritania, Nigeria, Senegal
A week later, on 7 July, Hapag-Lloyd will apply increased ocean tariff rates for all cargoes for 20’ general purpose from the Indian Subcontinent to the Mediterranean, as follows:
