Hapag-Lloyd has decided to temporarily suspend bookings of new cargo from North Europe and the Mediterranean, including North Africa, to West Africa, including Ghana, Ivory Coast, Nigeria, Senegal, Mauritania and Benin with immediate effect.
This announcement came after accumulated operational constraints on the company’s West African services, which are heavily affecting the connection of cargo from North Europe and the Mediterranean. As a result, the German carrier said it is facing challenging transhipment operations and congestion in Tangier as well as in its main hubs in North Europe.
“We are working on easing up the situation and will reinstate acceptance as soon as possible, which will be announced accordingly,” noted Hapag-Lloyd in its statement.
