Hapag Lloyd to use Matchbox Exchange platform in Vietnam

Hapag Lloyd and Matchbox Exchange will partner to provide a more efficient supply chain solution for the reuse and exchange of containers in Saigon, Vietnam through a digital platform, after their collaboration in Australia and New Zealand to perform on street turn requests.

In particular, the digital sourcing platform which offers two available options of reuse and exchange helps customers in need of containers send a request for these functions with instantaneous approval for export bookings, according to a statement.

Firstly, the reuse function provides opportunities for customers to directly re-use an import container for export bookings without the container transiting through a container park, while through the exchange function, clients can replace an empty import container with another customer holding an export booking.

The new seamless platform offers key benefits for customers, such as lower operation trucking costs, decreased waiting time and congestion at depots, as well as better control with improved transparency, according to an announcement.

Furthermore, the Matchbox Exchange logistics platform allows perpetual access to requests and instant approvals, while contributes to the reduction of the global carbon footprint.
