Hapag-Lloyd worries about Canadian demonstrations

Hapag-Lloyd is currently experiencing blockades of key rail track and port infrastructure facilities throughout Canada.

The indigenous communities across the country are demonstrating against the construction of a gas pipeline in Northern BC and there was resultant disruption to passenger and cargo trains throughout the weekend, according to Hapag-Lloyd statement.

The Federal and Provincial governments are looking to find a resolution.

It is not clear yet how long the protests could last but if prolonged there will be inevitable disruption to the rail transportation of shipments, says the German shipping company.
