Hapag-Lloyd reported today that a number of crew on board its vessel, Valencia Express have tested positive for Covid-19, and the vessel has now been quarantined near the Port of Helsinki as a precautionary measure.
The 2,400TEU Valencia Express operates on the German carrier’s North Sea Baltic service. The company did not give a date for a release of the vessel from its quarantine position, in Finland.
Cargo handling will continue, however, with the company saying that, “Export cargo from Helsinki has been shifted to other vessels on our NBS service, as well as partner services. Discharging of local imports is planned for Wednesday 5 May. Arrival times to subsequent ports of the rotation will be adjusted accordingly.”
Further updates on the vessel’s situation will be reported as the information becomes available, and as directed by the local authorities, said the carrier.
