Harren Group, Kestrel Italia and Intermare launch JV KestrelMare

Shipping and logistics companies Harren Group, Kestrel Italia, and Intermare have collaborated to establish KestrelMare S.r.l., a new joint venture aiming to enhance their joint operations in Italy and expande their activities in project cargo and heavy lift services.

“KestrelMare is taking over all Intermare and Kestrel Italia business units, merging them under one brand. The new team combines experienced staff from both former companies, allowing us to offer much broader, more dedicated support to all our customers,” explained Adolfo Herrero, General Manager at Kestrel Italia.

Based in Genoa, KestrelMare serves as a comprehensive solution for all types of projects and heavy-lift cargo in Italy.

As the Italian representative office for Harren Group and its brands—SAL Heavy Lift, Intermarine, and Combi Lift—KestrelMare also represents the JSI Alliance through its Dutch joint venture partner, Jumbo Shipping. Kestrel Italia has been the commercial agent for Jumbo Shipping for over 30 years.

“We are very much looking forward to working with Harren Group and Kestrel. Like us, they are family-owned companies that want to expand their activities in the project cargo and heavy lift segments,” commented Stefania Morasso, Managing Director of Intermare.

Operating under its new brand, KestrelMare offers maritime services to clients with access to a global fleet of heavy lift vessels, including the 65 ships of the JSI Alliance.

Furthermore, Kestrel Italia, founded in 1988 by Captain Carlo Viola, and Intermare, established in 1980 by Giorgio Morasso, are two of Italy’s most reputable shipping agencies. Both companies are steeped in Genoa’s maritime brokerage tradition and are dedicated to providing specialised, high-quality services to the project cargo and heavy lift industries. Harren Group is the majority stakeholder in Intermare.
