ICTSI’s Subic Bay International Terminals (SBITC) will deploy four additional rubber-tired gantries (RTG) to strengthen its onshore operations and improve overall productivity, supporting the growth prospects of Northern and Central Luzon in the Philippines.
The RTGs are expected to be delivered in the last week of September and will augment the terminal’s existing fleet of six to enable faster truck and vessel turnaround times for smoother cargo flow.
Through the resulting efficiency gains, SBITC will be able to stay ahead of the demand curve and meet increased cargo shipments during the peak shipping season, according to a statement.
SBITC, which has an annual capacity of 600,000 TEUs, started using RTGs in 2019, which has resulted in reduced truck dwell time, improved yard utilisation, and a 42% increase in terminal static capacity.
