Inspections of Maersk-operated Dyros underway in Mexico

Inspections of the Maersk-operated vessel Dyros, which lost more than 90 containers in the North Pacific Ocean on 21 March, are already underway at the port of Lazaro Cardenas, Mexico, where the vessel arrived on 3 April.

Dyros is expected to come alongside on 7 April and then, the 4,578 TEU ship, which is owned by Costamare and chartered by Maersk, will undergo further assessment.

“We will have more specific details on the extent of damaged containers at the end of this week,” said the Danish shipping company.

The discharge operations will also begin once alongside and are expected to take two weeks.

The Liberia-flagged boxship will also need to be assessed for any necessary repairs, which could add additional time at Lazaro Cardenas, according to the latest update.
