IRCLASS Academy, the training division of the Indian Register of Shipping, successfully concluded the inaugural Port Facility Security Internal Auditor Training Program at Rashtriya Raksha University’s School of Integrated Coastal and Maritime Security Studies in Ahmedabad.
This programme also included extensive training for Port Facility Security Officers.
The opening ceremony was honoured by Dr. Prabhakaran Paleri, Emeritus Resource Faculty and former Director General of the Indian Coast Guard. In his address, Dr. Paleri highlighted the vital role of robust security measures in safeguarding port facilities and enhancing maritime security.
The training programme included unique components to tackle modern security challenges. Notably, special sessions on Cyber Security in Ports and Narcotics Identification and Control were included, equipping participants with advanced knowledge and practical skills.
Dr. Heena Goswami, a distinguished professor from Gujarat National Law University and an expert in Narcotics and Forensics, delivered an insightful session on the practical dos and don’ts for port personnel in case of narcotics discovery.
In addition, participants from major ports, maritime boards, and private ports attended the training, gaining valuable insights and hands-on experience. The programme aimed to enhance their capabilities in maintaining port security and conducting thorough internal audits.
