Irish Defence Forces orders Konecranes equipment

In early 2024, the Irish Defence Forces placed an order for a Konecranes E-VER electric forklift to handle containers and general cargo at their main Logistics Hub in Curragh Camp, Co Kildare, Ireland.

The forklift is scheduled for delivery in the third quarter of 2024.

“This order proves that the E-VER’s rugged strength and reliability will offer the versatility needed for a wide range of applications – and all on electric power. With service and support from local distributor Henley Forklift Group, we’re proud to provide our technology and expertise to the Irish Defence Forces,” mentioned Anton Nilsson, area sales manager, Lift Trucks, Konecranes.

Following a competitive tender process, the Konecranes E-VER electric forklift was selected for its durability and high performance, capable of moving equipment and supplies swiftly and safely while generating zero emissions.

The order is for a single Konecranes E-VER 16-1200C forklift with a fully electric driveline and a 16-ton capacity. It features a lithium-ion battery pack that offers high energy efficiency and fast charging. With minimal heat, no oil, and fewer moving parts, the electric forklift requires less maintenance and produces less chemical waste.

Furthermore, its optimized weight distribution ensures smooth operation, easy manoeuvrability, and quick acceleration. Numerous sensors provide rapid diagnostics and reliable functioning, allowing the driver to focus on moving loads safely and efficiently from an ergonomic cabin designed for comfort, intuitive control, and clear, unobstructed visibility in all directions. With zero tailpipe emissions, the forklift is suitable for indoor and outdoor use. The truck will be delivered in standard military matte olive green.

According to a statement, this order is part of Konecranes’ Ecolifting™ initiative, aimed at increasing the positive environmental impact of its products and services while reducing customers’ carbon footprints. From eco-optimized diesel drives to hybrid and fully electrified fleets, Konecranes continues to innovate for greater efficiency with fewer resources.

“We are pleased to announce yet another order for a defence and peacekeeping organization, which shows the sector’s strong interest in our innovative and reliable machines,” stated Patrik Lundbäck, vice president of Sales and Distribution, Lift Trucks, Konecranes.
