JAXPORT announces new leadership roles

Jacksonville Port Authority (JAXPORT) board of directors unanimously elected businessman J. Palmer Clarkson as chairman and elected additional officer positions effective from 1 October 2022.

Clarkson founded Bridgestone HosePower, LLC, and is currently a member of the board of directors of the company, while he retired as president and CEO in June.

According to JAXPORT, Clarkson and the following officers will serve in their new roles through 30 September 2023:

  • Vice Chair: Daniel Bean
  • Treasurer: Brad Talbert
  • Secretary and Immediate Past Chair: Wendy Hamilton

In addition, two new experienced ocean carrier executives joined JAXPORT commercial team, David Briceno as director of cargo sales for the US Southeast and Raymond “Mike” Ryan as director of cargo sales for the US Northeast.

Briceno is responsible for growing JAXPORT’s container business with new and existing importers, exporters, beneficial cargo owners, and manufacturers located in the region, while he has nearly two decades of experience serving in roles of increasing responsibility with German ocean carrier Hapag-Lloyd.

Most recently, he served as senior account executive, responsible for managing containerised cargo accounts and building trade relationships with shippers in the Southeast Florida and US Gulf Coast regions.

Ryan supports sales for breakbulk and roll-on-roll-off cargoes for customers located in the region. Most recently he served as vice president of US Operations at ZIM, responsible for managing terminal costs and operations for the ocean carrier’s North American terminals.
