The Jacksonville Port Authority (JAXPORT) has announced the addition of two transportation and logistics experts in containerised cargo to the port’s commercial team, Joyssy Arias and Sheila Cox.
Joyssy Arias will join JAXPORT as Director of Ocean Carrier Development. She will be responsible for developing JAXPORT’s ocean carrier service in the container trade, with a primary focus on building and maintaining the port’s relationships with global ocean carriers.
Arias has nearly two decades of experience with some of the world’s leading ocean carriers, most recently serving as Senior Manager of Trans-Pacific Trade for Hapag-Lloyd.
During her career, she has held logistics management roles based in Europe, the Middle East, Asia and South America, serving nearly all major international trade lanes and developing new routings and products, according to a statement.
Arias is also experienced in perishable cargo and vessel capacity management through former roles at AP Moller – Maersk and global freight forwarder ECU Worldwide.
In addition, Sheila Cox will be the new Director of National Container Accounts for the busiest port of Florida. In this role, she will work to develop new and existing container cargo business with shippers and beneficial cargo owners throughout the United States.
Cox has more than 30 years of experience in nearly every facet of the Southeast US supply chain. Most recently, she served as Founder and Managing Director of Global Match, a Charleston-based third-party logistics provider.
Prior to that, Cox held business development positions at the South Carolina Ports Authority, Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC), North Carolina State Ports Authority, and COSCO Shipping. According to a statement, Cox began her career serving as a freight forwarder, managing end-to-end ocean and air freight delivery.
“Joyssy and Sheila’s industry experience and commitment to outstanding customer service make them a great fit for our cargo sales team,” said JAXPORT CEO, Eric Green. “Their expertise at all levels of the supply chain will benefit container customers looking to take advantage of the efficiencies, capabilities, and ease of business JAXPORT offers,” he added.
Arias and Cox join JAXPORT as the federal project to deepen Jacksonville’s shipping channel to 47 feet (14.32 meters) is set to be completed through the port’s Blount Island Marine Terminal in summer 2022.
