JWT shows good numbers, despite Liverpool’s delays

JWT Haulage, one of the North West’s largest independent container haulage companies is set to increase its revenue by around 30% this year after moving its headquarters to The Port of Liverpool in March.

Despite haulage delays at The Port earlier this year, JWT says its operation, transporting goods for clients including B&M has gone from strength to strength in 2018.

JWT puts the success down to its close working relationship with port owners Peel Ports, giving it direct access to major shipping lines using Liverpool.

Earlier this year JWT secured five acres of container storage facilities at the Port of Liverpool, allowing it to handle larger volumes of goods for distribution to stores across the UK.

And since haulier congestion issues at the port were resolved, JWT has been able to help its customers move goods quickly around the North West and beyond.

Jon Whiteley, Director for JWT, said: “There’s no hiding from the fact that congestion issues slowed things down at The Port of Liverpool for a short period over the summer. Despite this, the communication and support provided by Peel Ports has been first-rate, and has allowed us to increase our operation significantly in the past year.

“Given our new location within the port estate, we have enjoyed greater access to incoming goods, allowing us to store and move in the most efficient way possible for customers. As we look ahead, there are a number of high profile retailers we are speaking to about using our services in the near future.”

Julia Bradley, Group Marketing Director of Peel Ports Group, said: “We’re delighted to see JWT build on its success following its relocation to the port. As operations returned to normal over the summer, hauliers such as JWT have been able to reap the benefits of using the port. Given the location, excellent shipping links, and storage facilities here, our hauliers are able to reduce their environmental footprint and help customers get their stock on shelves as quickly as possible.”

JWT Haulage is a family owned haulage company that has been operating since 2001. It provides road container transport across the UK, working with global shipping lines and freight forwarders. It currently employs around 135 staff.
