Kalmar has concluded an agreement with long-standing partner Matrans Rotterdam Terminal to supply four Kalmar Eco Reachstackers. The order includes a five-year Kalmar Complete Care service agreement for the machines and was booked in Cargotec’s 2020 Q1 order intake, with delivery scheduled to take place during Q2 of 2020.
Matrans Rotterdam Terminal is a full-service logistics provider in various segments including forest products, project and breakbulk cargo, and short-sea container transport. The terminal is part of the Matrans Group and is located in the Port of Rotterdam. Matrans already operates a fleet of five Kalmar Eco Reachstackers. Expanding the fleet to nine machines will deliver estimated annual fuel savings of €100,000 (US$ 108,400).
Kalmar says that its eco-efficient Eco Reachstacker can reduce fuel consumption by up to 40% compared to older machines without compromising on productivity. It also features smoother and faster acceleration, less noise and lower emissions for enhanced driver experience, according to the company.
Kalmar Complete Care provides Matrans with preventive and corrective maintenance services to an agreed service level. With Complete Care, Kalmar has integrated all its maintenance and material-management operations with the processes established by Matrans.
Roelf Buist, Managing Director of Matrans, commented, “Our existing fleet of Kalmar Eco Reachstackers has been instrumental in helping us to cut emissions at the terminal and achieve a significant reduction in fuel costs. Adding additional machines of the same type was therefore a relatively straightforward decision.”
