Kalmar has agreed with Portonave SA to equip its terminal in the Brazilian town of Navegantes with a Kalmar eco reachstacker. This is the first deal of Kalmar with a Latin American port or terminal.
This latest order which brings Kalmar’s eco reachstackers deliveries to 400, also includes training for maintenance technicians and equipment operators as well as technical inspection and monitoring services.
Booked in 2021 fourth quarter intake of Cargotec, the owner of Kalmar, the order is expected to be delivered to Portonave during the second quarter of the next year.
The new port equipment machine, which will have a lifting capacity of 45 tonnes and 1-over-6 high stacking capability, uses a smaller engine than traditional reachstackers, meaning it can reduce fuel consumption and emissions without compromising productivity.
Marcelo Anacleto Diniz, maintenance manager of Portonave, said that as the company is committed to sustainable development, it is important that new equipment acquisitions are aligned with these goals. “The new Kalmar Eco Reachstacker will play an important role in improving our environmental and operational performance,” he pointed out.
The equipment fleet at Portonave also includes Kalmar Ottawa terminal tractors and Kalmar empty container handlers.
